Default 2000 ZX7?

This isnt a want to buy post but I might be needing a motor for a 2000 ZX7. Im thinking of picking this bike up but it has rod knock in the higher RPM's. Are there any good places in the area to check or order from online?

good luck

seems zx7 motors are hard to come by in any kind of decent shape.

i can rebuild it for ya!

if it's a rod knock, you'll need a crank, at least one rod, and a set of rod and main bearings, plus gaskets.

but...at least you'd know what kinda shape the motor is in after it's done.

might wanna have a second opinion actually, after i re-read your initial post.

most rod knocks (or spun bearings) are more noticable at idle and low rpm. it's still possible, but i'd hate to see ya spend all that money for a crank and whatnot only to have a different problem.

it's not quite that easy. the rear mounts line up, but you have to cut the front mounts off the frame and move them forward a lil over an inch. it's been done many a time, but it's deffinately not just a drop in kinda thing. then you also have to do alot of work to the airbox to make it fit under the zx7 tank (the 7 box won't fit on the 9 carbs, so you have to cut the floor of the 9 box out and glue it into the 7 box to make it work)

it's not really worth it in the end. with all the money and time involved, you could get the same power out of a 750 easier.

probably cam chain noise (bad chain tensioner?), or valve float (broken valve spring?)

if you're local, i can check it out and give you my opinion, if you want.
