'02 F4i Wiring issues on new undertail
Alright! I finally have the undertail in but now when I wire the turn signals and tailights I get issues. Neither of the turn signals work. Do both fron and read all have to be hooked up in order to work correctly? Next, I wired both sides (tailight) exactly the same. The right side brightens when I hit a break but the left side does nothing. Anybody have any clues or experience with this situation? I checked all fuses and they seem to be good. Any help would be most appreciated.
My wiring is as follows:
Stock wires: New tailights:
Green Black
Green w/ yellow stripe Red
Black Yellow
Rt Signal:
Blue (stock) to new green
Green (stock) to new black
Lt Signal:
Orange (stock) to new green
Green (stock) to new black

you running l.e.d.'s in that undertail?
if so, try switching the polarity of all the lights that aren't working. a regular light bulb will work the same with the polarity reversed, l.e.d.'s don't work that way.
also, if you run l.e.d. turn signals front AND rear, you may need a load equalizer. l.e.d.'s don't pull anywhere near the current that a regular bulb does, and they'll make the flasher flash very fast... sometimes so fast that it looks like they're just stuck on.

Shouldnt black go to black? Maybe not, I dont know. But according to the wiring Diagram in the Clymer book, one bulb is a brake light, the other is a tail light.
Okay, yeah they are LED's. I still have the stocks on the front though. If you were to look at e-bay item number 4618683655; I'm pretty sure that's the exact one that I have. I've tried reversing the polarity and had no luck still. Do the front turn signals need to be hooked up in order for the rears to work? I'm also wondering if the engine needs to be turned on to check the turn signals. Normally on the gauge indicator a green light flashes for the turn signal, but that's not happening either. Thanks for all of your help!
My only thing with that idea is that it's working on the right side and they're hooked up exactly the same way. But even on the turn signals Black is the ground on the undetail signals and green is on the stock wiring.
ok, well if you dont have a book:
black goes to both brake bulbs and back to the ignition
green/yellow goes toboth brake bulbs and back to the front brake switch
and green goes to both brake bulbs and the signal bulbs
so from that I would assume black and green makes the brake lights the running lights and green would make the signals the running lights when you start the bike, green/yellow would be the braking part

no, the fronts don't have to hooked up, but running just led's on the signal circuit won't work. the flasher won't see the correct resistance. but what gets me is that they're not working at all. if it was just because of having led's , they'd just come on and stay on when you hit the signals.
btw, there should be 3 wires on the front signals, as honda's have running lights and turn signals usually.
try hooking up the stock signals to the bike again and see if they work. if they do, then you know the wiring in the bike is good, and that puts the problem with the undertail itself. if they still don't work, you have a problem on the bike.

Alright, I'm about to go check all this shit out. Yeah the fronts did have a third wire but rears did not so good call. I'll keep it posted!
Okay, I wired up the stock rear turn signals and same outcome as the new led's on the undertail. No blinking or even lighting up for that matter. Is it possible a fuse is blown even though they all look clean and good? Thanks for any help again!
