Dude if your car is clean and pollen is your only problem a california duster isn't going to hurt your car. I work at a detail shop as well and both the owner and I, having black cars, use a california duster on the regular. I don't know anyone else that is more anal about their cars than myself and the people I work with.

If this still doesn't convince you, having fun marring the paint up even more with your wash mitt / drying process every day trying to clean the car.

Think of it this way, not only do the leaves change color in the fall, your car turns yellow in the spring...with white spots if you park under a tree.

Who cares about the leaves? The only thing that sux about them is you have to rake the yard and they get caught on your wipers. The pollen is what messes with people's allergies and covers your car in plant giz.

I just know that Ive seen results on cars that merely look dusty or were covered in a little pollen and its never pretty. Im not talking about it being full of RIDS (Random Isolated Deep Scratches) or swirls after 1 dusting, but it comes with dusting regularly. I have many Ferrari and Lambo clients who use it only to clean off dust after removing their car covers and thats more than fine...I just dont like it for anything else.

If this still doesn't convince you, having fun marring the paint up even more with your wash mitt / drying process every day trying to clean the car.
Unless you wash like an assh*le and dont use 2 buckets, there should be very little to zero marring with a hand washing and a proper mitt. I guarantee you get less marring than by trying to use a duster. If you are a detailer, you know that even if a car doesnt look dirty, it can still easily be holding dirt on the paint for you to swirl around with the duster.
