Thumbs up Mutual Assurance Society of Virginia

... best homeowner's insurance company I've ever used. Received 50% off new house's first year's premium for being a current policyholder, saving me nearly $500 ! Each year's permium after the first is typically 5-10% of the first year's, so I'm looking at a whopping $25-50/year after this one.

For those who haven't heard of them, the insurance company is grandfathered into just about every law because of their founding in 1794. They insured Thomas Jefferson among a list of famous people.

That just made my day...

Oh yeah, I got coverage out the wazoo like you wouldn't friggin' believe. With the initial (before 50% discount) rate being $992 you can imagine what kind of homeowner's coverage I have. Typical coverage is about $300-450.
