Wrong. With younger techs, most dealerships would rather train them to mold them to the way they want their techs doing things. Besides, most of the kids I've ever seen come out of the tech centers into the dealerships I've been at are complete wastes. You have to re-teach them everything anyway. Looking for a job in service between november - february is just a complete waste of time. Nobody's hiring because there's already not enough work to go around.

i understand where you are coming from dilingkwint, i just turn 20 2 weeks ago. I worked at browns vw/buick on midlothan for about 5 months as a sales rep., i enjoied the job and all but it's just that the hours and all and school where not going together so i left about a month ago and now i to looking for a job, when your young to a certain extinct it's hard to find a good job in the automotive field, you have to really show that youhave potienal and all,and then maybe somebody will let you on. I'm more focused on school more than anything right now,so i don't know if i will even get back in the automotive filed right now. But like somebody said before i know for a fact merchants is hiring sales assocites for i think all there stores, you start of with 10 an hour which ain't bad, i was looking into that but i possibly might get a job at the post office,if you want to talk about it more just pm me

Yes merchants tire is looking for sales associates aka service writers, or whatever you wanna call it. We are short in alot of shops. We start at 10 an hour plus bonuses..dont count on much money from the bonus..lol.

We are looking for people who know cars, and how all the systems work and their function, not so much the ability to sell, being if the customer asks a question about anything on that car, you must know how the system operates. Not to mention tires, knowledge of the tire, features, benefits, selecting a tire for a specific vehicle and the customers application, etc.
You can go to ANY merchants Tire & Auto centers to fill out an application.

the way they mold them around here is to let them raise minivans into the ceilings and not worry about the heght of the vehicles on the lifts...
