For those people looking for a job after college, this is a good entry level position that will get your foot in the door for advancement and pay is pretty good. Once you have that background check done, put it on your resume as it may help in other job applications to have "Passed VA State Police background check."

GENERAL PUBLIC
WORKING TITLE: COMPUTER NETWORK SUPPORT TECHNICIAN
ROLE TITLE: INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST I
POSITION #W0523
HOURLY RATE $13.94
PAY BAND 4
PART-TIME POSITION – NO BENEFITS
28 HOURS PER WEEK

The Virginia Department of State Police is seeking qualified applicants for a Computer Network Support Technician position in the Criminal Justice Information Services Division located at State Police Administrative Headquarters in Chesterfield County.

DUTIES: Answers telephone calls for Help Desk assistance, logs calls into the McAfee database and refers to proper support level. Provides Virginia Criminal Information Network (VCIN), National Criminal Information Center (NCIC), and National Law Enforcement Telecommunication System (NLETS) assistance to other agencies. Successfully completes all required re-certification training. Assists Computer Network Support Technicians with Sex Offender Registry, maintaining office message files and other Criminal Justice Information Services related assigned duties. Maintains equipment and work area. Completes required Department forms.

QUALIFICATIONS: Must be willing to work rotating shifts, holidays and weekends. Experience demonstrating working knowledge of Microsoft computer software. Demonstrated ability to work with others; to take and give instructions clearly; to communicate effectively. Must be a United States citizen or have been a lawful resident of the United States for the past 10 consecutive years to apply for VCIN certification. High school diploma or GED or an equivalent combination of training and experience related to the duties of the position required.

FINGERPRINT-BASED CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECK AND
PRE-EMPLOYMENT DRUG SCREENING REQUIRED

I only got as far as background check and knew it wasnt for me. lol.

not going into alot of detail. but i have a few charges that come up. that just happened to be thrown out but always are brought up at every new job. kinda sucks i fucked up but what do ya do other then keep on keeping on.

Seems interesting enough. I am kinda far away once I am at school though (Ashland). I don't have any real world experience with MS software; but I am a Senior CSCI student at R-MC. Maybe I should look into this?
