Default Help! Need strut compressor this weekend.

Does anyone have a strut spring compressor in their garage? I got the struts off my Wife's civic and the rent-a-compressor from Napa is a piece of crap, it's not even designed for struts but for standard coil springs.

So I'm lookin for someone with the proper setup long enough for me to swap out the struts (off the car).

Kind of on a tight budget but can come up with something if needed.

Thanks in advance.

Pep Boys, Autozone may have a free loaner. Dunno, have used a spring compressor from them before. Give them a credit card number and then get refunded the loot when you bring it back. Call ahead to make sure no one has borrowed it from their store before you head out.

Napa said they had one, turns out it's a conventional coil spring compressor and not for struts. Just got off the phone with them and they don't carry a macpherson strut compressor tool. Story of my life, now to get the 105 dollar deposit back for something I can't use.

Well I did it the redneck way - an 8 foot 2x4 with a hole drilled in it wedged under the deck rail and I sat on it. The stud pops up through the hole and you start the nut and it's all over.
