the funny thing is. i think racing is stupid anyways but what pisses me off is people bashing phil. he made a mistake and it cost him everything. case closed, payment for his actions where paid. we all know it was stupid and a very dumb idea to begin with. but dont talk bad about a man and judge him by one mistake.

No. He put others at risk by weaving through traffic at those speeds and could have killed them as well. It'd be very different if he were doing it on a back road with no one else around. This was a crowded interstate highway during a Sunday AFTERNOON. That's not cool.

I agree. That one mistake could have killed other innocent people on the road. If I wave a loaded gun in someone's face, and it accidentally goes off, I don't expect any sympathy. I knew the risk before I did it.

So you are justifying his actions then? That's what I kind of gather from your posts and then this insightful piece of work quoted above.

Of course anyone can be killed while driving, but there is a difference in driving the speed limit and not wreckless and an accident happening verse racing and weaving in and out of traffic and at excessive speeds increasing the chances of an accident. GTFO

I feel bad for his family. Him I don't because he chose his course of actions without thinking.

I say rip to his family.

But the comments in this thread are beyond stupid. Phil was fucking awesome, he was a known race car driver etc etc etc.

Anyone who co-signs this non sense is a fucking stupid, lets race on a busy highway in the afternoon with familys on it.

Thank god he didn't kill anyone else.

295=1
Street racer=0

Those of us that knew Phil, knew he like to race and would not turn one down on the track or on the street. There is a price you must pay, and he paid the ulitmate price! Hell he caused it, but I still feel for the guy. He was the type of guy that befriended anyone he met, example.....when Brauning and him had it out over the S2000, he still would not bash them. As far as street racing im sure everyone in this fourm has done it atleast once so lets not bash him on that, he made a choice and he paid for it case closed. And yeah the seat belt thing was a stupid choice and now we have another example of why we should wear one but none of us are perfect sometimes we forget even in situations where it is of the utmost importance.
If it was a friend or family member I would feel no pity for them. I would be more disappointed for the fact that they would do such an idiotic thing. If I were to die by even just street racing or not wearing my seatbelt I sure as hell would deserve it.

yeah, i was thinking the same. its a crappy, desolate, busted road on a sunday, nothing else. i know, i drive it every day of the week. potholes probably took him out in the end, speed or not. ive nearly wrecked at 65 due to the mess 295 is in these days. despite all the heartless comments based on why it was the guys fault, sorry for the loss, sounded like a great guy. i dont think anyone on here can claim to have never had a instance of a lack of good judgment, lets leave it at that. sad to lose another member of the community.

Heartless? You want heartless? I am glad he took himself out. Highways are not the place to do this shit. There are 2 fukkin tracks within short driving distance, so there is no excuse. Just because you idiots think street racing is ok does not make it so. I have found that most of the people who street race have never been on a track. The only sad part of this story is that the family will have to deal with the loss.
