DSM was a part of the production of several cars, the Talon/Eclipse/Laser are just the most well known, and the ones that have the common production plant in illinois. 3000GT/Stealth, Starion/conquest, and I can't remember, but I think they had a hand in the cordia and tredia as well. Just because the E/T/L got the nickname doesn't mean the company didn't do other shit too, dunno why it's so hard for people to understand. I don't know if the GVR4 was imported through that project or seperately by Mitsubishi, but considering a majority of Mitsubishi's stuff was done through chrysler in the 80s and early 90s it wouldn't surprise me. Doesn't really matter though. After working on them for 10 years it's just a talon in disguise as far as I'm concerned. Just making the point I don't need a history lesson. There's actually a lot more to it than that, I just gave the quick version.
I never said DSM was just a plant. I very well know it was a joint merger with Chrysler. However, all cars produced under this joint venture were produced at the plant in Normal Illinois. The Galant vr4 was imported by MMC, never saw the insides of the Normal Illinois plant, and was designed and produced before the Talons, GSXs, and Lasers were even created. Therefore, a vr4 is not a "Talon in disguise" but more like the eccentric uncle to the Talon and father to the Lancer Evolution.

Wow, that way off topic. I'll stay out of it now, but if you want to discuss the finer points of MMC/DSM history please come to the dyno day! It'll be great fun.

I think you need to re-read what I wrote. I don't think you properly understood what I said. You are correct about everything but this

It's just a factory. nothing more, nothing less, nothing exclusive about it. It made other cars besides the eclipse/talon/laser. Whether or not the other DSM made cars were made there, i'm not sure, but I think the early 80s DSMs were produced elsewhere.

who really cares though? What really matters is that our motor is the greatest piece of machinery in the universe.

What I meant though, was that after working on the damn things for 10 years, I don't see the shell, I look at them and see a big pile of part numbers, 90% of which are identical to a talon. You can be an elitist about it if you want, but it's still a talon in disguise to me. Or I guess you could say a Talon is a GVR4 disguised as a 2 door coupe if you'd rather.

Actually I would prefer that, since it came first and the T/E/L's were based off it.

You are right, I've got no clue! It's fine by me if I get blown out of the water because it's all in good sport. I want to see some awesome cars at the dyno day.

I am waiting to see what the weather is going to be like. A dyno day in the snow would not be very much fun, I don't have AWD.
