Your Thoughts On My Next Purchase...
Thats what declared value insurance is for.
Actually, look @ the average price of a 1999+ 2.5RS Coupe with even a WRX swap and stock RS trans, they go for low to mid teens.
1999+ RS Coupes with a full STi swap, from motor/trans down to the carpet/seats, are going for the low to mid 20s. Theyre the K swap for subaru.
I dont care how much insurance I will save with the $12,000 I spent on all the parts. It would be well worth it. To each his own? How many people actually have a RSTi? Not that many! And the ones that do are constantly selling them for the mid 20s all day without any problems.. Heres a prime example:
http://www.rs25.com/forums/showthread.php?t=84082 -> Happens to still be for sale. Ive been talking to him lately regarding everything and hes been extremely helpful. He was the one that gave me the site that supplied the full 04-07 swap.
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...highlight=RSTi -> 4 door sedan, asking 16k for it.
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...highlight=RSTi -> Car sold for 23k. I was going to purchase it but I couldnt come up with the funds quick enough.
^^ Now that I do have the funds, I just figured it would make more sense to buy a stock 1999+ RS Coupe and do it all from the ground up since there seem to be none for sale.
Why do Honda owners spend so much on there cars? Just because its not a Honda doesnt mean it cant be swapped.
Actually I had a guy quote me:
If I supplied everything, the car and everything else, he would charge me around $5,000 for labor. That includes the 200+ hour inside the bay rewiring everything(STi gauges etc).
I just want something more snow friendly. I hate the fact my car is up for the winter -__-
Actually, let me correct myself. This was directly from the owner of Kales Customs:
sti swap
11:44 AM kalescustom
the last complete sti i did ended up being $3100 in labor.
I was supplied the RS and the totalled 04 sti. i stripped both, fit the hvac/dash/wiring into the RS from the sti,(which included welding/cutting/painting the firewall and a custom dash beam...then installed entire drivetrain.. it took me 2 weeks..
He specializes in the 2.5RS platform. Feel free to contact him if you have any questions. So far he has the best quote, I had ECS quote me around 10-12k for just the labor!

Thats his site for those interested!

Thats there work for those interested!
And just because its a 2.5RS doesnt mean after its done it will have the same resale value of one. Anyone looking to buy one knows how much $ it costs to do it and how much they go for. You can get a decently built one with the stock RS trans thats been rebuilt and what not for around 12-15k. The ones done correctly are going for 19+25k.

You are out of your fucking mind if you think that a 2.5RS with a COMPLETE sti conversion will be anywhere near as cheap as just buying an STI, even with insurance included.
I hope you do try to do this just so I can laugh at you shooting yourself in the head for making such a stupid decision.
The people who put time and money into RSs are the people who have the time and knowlege to do most of the work themselves. Not to mention, most of the people selling ther RSs are selling them to get into an STI or some other upgrade.

Im not worried about saving $. So why the fuck are you all up in my thread preaching to me. Go preach to someone else. I want a Coupe, not a family sedan.
Lol, you ask for our thoughts, here they are. Deal with them or quit making threads.
EDIT: Not to mention, the reason you said your not going with an STI is because of insurance. Quit backtracking.

Disclaimer: Id love to see this happen, itd be a badass build. But dont think that doing this to a coupe is going to save you money, cuz its going to do just the opposite.
I was curious.. Ive heard that if you dont swap out the RS trans with the STi one it will only last for a short perioud of time. This makes since considering the RS was never meant to push 300+AWDHP. However, why do they have the same problem with the regular 2.0 WRX trans? I know plenty of people that have those pushing well over the 350+ mark and they seem to be fine. Thanks
Yeah there are a few people here and there making good power on WRX trannies with no issues yet, but thats rare. Most people who start upping power on WRX trannies start seeing problems and end up upgrading to either the STI RA gears, the AndrewTech LGT build (which is what i have), or bite the bullet and go with the PPG gearset.
Sick, I didnt mean to be an asshole to you, but I hate it when people come in my threads and say shit like "Ops a moron" etc etc.. I dunno why, but I love the coupe style. I could afford insurance on an STi but I pay out the ass on my S2000 and Im not looking to get myself into another expensive insurance payment. I know its quite expensive, but I think the end results would be extremely worth it. PM me if your interested in doing a winter project. I have the funds to do it, just looking for some Subaru knowledged people!
i would seriously just take your idea, and throw it out the door, or buy one already swapped. seriously, thats alot of money just to have an rsti, and yes, i like the rs's front end
