Re: Worth fixing?
??? what is that?
just get any 4L60E, if it's one from a 2 wheel drive just change the tail piece for your transfer case. any other transmission will require that tranny's computer to control it, and from my experience the only other one is a 4L80E and you won't find one for cheap, they came in the 2500HD LQ9 (6.0)engines I believe.
4L60E trans are in any 5.3 motor CHEVY or GMC to include the corvette, camaro, trans am, yukon (except denali), tahoe, silverado, and I might have forgotten a few. If you do rebuild don't be cheap I had mine fully built and I have made my money back in just gas savings over the years.

I googled it and some guys were swapping them into trailblazer SS's.
I'm going to call some junkyards today hopefully, and if anyone goes to the pick n pull keep an eye out!

Re: Worth fixing?
Its worth fixing.
My 2000 1500 has 270,000 on the clock with a re-man motor and trans. i love the truck to death, but I have the shitty 4.8
You should look at the 4L80E if you plan on keeping it for a while... its worth the extra coin.

Re: Worth fixing?
I gave Kevin a call the other day, he had a 4l60e from a silverado 4wd for $850. I think I'm going to keep looking and hopefully find one a bit cheaper. Either way, thanks for the number, I'll probably call him back if nothing else pops up.

also call a tranny shop and ask them what a rebuild would cost with youn r&i the tranny...
should be around 7-800 as long as no hard parts are needed
