Re: window tint pettition?
Well if you want to go technical, he should have searched and found the 2 trillion other petition threads about:
- tint
- front plates
- ride height
- exhaust
etc

You don't see the reason, but someone obviously did....
And apologies on the age comment, 99% of the time people trying these things just got their license and want limo tint on their 20 year old civic.
I mean I won't argue with you that it's a lame law but petitions won't do jack - when you have even 1000 people signing something to remove the law but the rest of the populous doesn't care it won't get passed.
Not to mention let's say it does get passed, 35% front 35% rear right? Great! Now the first time a cop gets shot by a driver/passenger of a vehicle with tint guess what? That amendment is gone.

And I believe if an officer gets shot its not because of the window tint. The person inside the vehicle made that decision. In all likelyhood they probably would make that same decision tint or no tint. Its the officer's responsiblity to treat every stop as a potential threat. So once again I know why there is a tint law, but if the surrounding region can get the job done at 35% why cant VA? What difference does that 15% actually make safety wise versus what difference it makes revenue wise?

Ah, I'm not saying an officer would get shot because because of window tint, but some lawyer will argue that if there wasn't the 35% tint the officer could have seen the weapon before being shot.

Very true. Thats where these stats would come in handy I guess. If there is a signifigant difference between 35% and 50% then I would have no arguement. But my guess its marginal at best. Otherwise the rest of the region would follow suit for the safety of their own officers.

I live in roanoke, and i always put 20% on all my vehicles. might get a ticket once every 2 3 years. usually by a trooper on i81. So not that very strict here.
