Why do guys angle their muffler???

I dunno, maybe they think it looks cool. Mine is full of twists and turns. 8 cylinders - 2 headers - y pipe - cat - straight pipe - muffler - 2 seperate pipes - 4 exhaust tips
I think it has alot to do with some cars having solid-axles in the rear, and having the pipe run down the side of the car, so it's angled straight out of the back.
Cars with independent rear-ends generally have the exhaust pass near the pumpkin of the rear, so the exhaust has to be angled away from the center of the car... unless you wanted two crazy-ass 90* bends. Which isn't good.
.. but that's just my guess.

I remember reading a tech article somewhere that said an exhaust angled at 45* is supposed to help exhaust flow
. something about the airflow coming off the side of the car helping to pull the gases out, although i HIGHLY doubt that's why most of them do it

friends dont let friends put angled exhaust on crx's! if you look at a lot of the 240s, supras, and 7s out there racing in the japanese circuit races they have angled exhuast and it looks hot on there cars. of course a 20 dollar tip on those cars and it would still look hot, however if its proportional to your vehicle and its what you want then go for it. im more of a open mani kind of guy myself that changes my oil at enviornmentalist conventions yet again that might just be me

But some of these guys pipes are just rediculous, you're right. The better your car looks, the more "reputation points" you get right? A lot of these guys have been playing NFS Underground way too long.
