Those laws are in place because America is a notoriously litigious society. What people lack in common sense, they make up for in lawsuits.

Uh, yeah. The law had nothing to do with the DVD player. It had to do with disabling the airbags. non-airbag steering wheel=illegal. Probably does in Britain too. They got hell of lot more litigation than us.

It is illegal, and that's why WCC and Unique were fined. They weren't fined because they had a TV in the wheel, it was that they removed the airbag; therefore, a non-airbag steering wheel would also be illegal.

That's about as good as an example as the Schumacher one. The speeds with which he impacted the wall were much greater than most, if not all cars, could acheive on a public roadway.

I understand what both sides are trying to point out though.

My argument was why Schumacher didn't need an airbag and he was a bad example.

The Earnhardt reference was to show what can happen when no head and neck restraint is used for protection. A crash at 80mph can be just as deadly as a 180mph crash if no protection is used.

So much for 'Land of the Free' ! If I wanna risk my life and no harm to others , then GOD DAMNIT I should be able to ! Jeepers have been 'disabling' airbags in TJs since they came out ! You sure as hell wouldn't want to 'bump' anything rockcrawling and have the damn thing blow up in your face .

Oh yeah .... helmet laws suck , too .

In my opinion, your example held as much credit as his Schumacher one. That's all. I know what you're trying to say though, I just thought the example wasn't the best.

I understand the whole wcc getting fined for no airbags cause that is a street car. Yeah but the race cars and drag cars you think an air bag is gonna make difference when you hit the wall at Hundreds of miles.
