D13B
D14A
D15B1
D16A6
B16A
D16A9 ONLY DOHC D series offered.

...All the motors offered in any EF.

D16A9
(Same as D16A8 but without a catalytic converter)
Found in:
1988-1991 Concerto (UK/Europe)
1988-1991 CRX 1.6i-16(UK/Europe/South Africa)
1988-1991 Civic 1.6i-16(UK/Europe)
1992-1993 Civic Gti (New Zealand)
1989-1992 Rover 216/416 GTi (UK/Europe)
1992-1995 Civic Si (Japanese and Peruvian version)

4th Gen ZC Identified by: Internal coil. OBD1 EFi system (grey plug). No cam angle sensor on exhaust cam, now located in distributor. Rubber plug where cam angle sensor would mount. Black cam cover. No PGM-EFi plate on the inlet manifold, replaced with three ribs instead. P29 stamped on inlet manifold. MAP sensor on TB. +7cc PM7 pistons, pent roof combustion chamber. As a ZC only appeared in EG5 Civic bodies, no Integra or CRX received this engine. Reasonably common produced from '92 to '94. (20th Anniversary edition & Japanese car of the year) D-series version D16A8/9 (Euro & Australia Civic Si) (sometimes +7cc P29 pistons)

So no, it was not offered in America. He can not go pull one for an EF. He will NOT get the right part. They used an entirely different engine. Quit arguing.

Okay,so what about the 3rd gen ZC that was available in EFs in Japan and other countries? Are you telling me that this doesn't exist?!
Maybe you didn't read my posts too well, but the ZC was never sold in America-I never said it was either. If he goes to an auto parts store and asks for a water pump for a US 4th gen CRX/Civic Si,it works on the 3rd gen ZC.Are you disputing that?

Reading comprehension owns.

Yeah it does, you.

US 4th gen CRX/Civic Si,it works on the 3rd gen ZC.

NO it does not, they are a completely different motor!

"Next in line was the 1.6 L SOHC. Simply 1.6i for the European market and Si for the American market (US top model). (not to be confused with the JDM Si, which is a (ZC) D16a8/9 1.6 L DOHC) Second highest model was the American Si. It was equipped with a 1.6 L SOHC (D16A6) engine and delivered 106 hp (79 kW)."

Once again, so this time you don't miss it...

SOHC AND DOHC D SERIES ARE ENTIRELY UNIQUE.

Yes,the SOHC and DOHC D engines are unique, but nobody is arguing that.
However, there are some parts that interchange, namely the water pump. Are you saying that a US EF Si water pump does not fit a 3rd gen ZC?That's the whole point of this thread.I've done it with my own hands on numerous occasions. Are you saying that's wrong?
Also, what's the point of your above quote? It seems to suggest what I've been saying the whole time-that the ZC was available in the 4th gen JDM Civic.

I do not believe it's the same.
Even if the pattern was the same, the tooth count is different, warranting the need for a different gear/pump.

Honda's MOST identical motors still have the slightest variation in tooth count.
