Default VTEC problems

I was driving home tonight messing around. I was trying to see if i could get it to do the hesitation thing then try to fix it. but instead it felt 2 me that my vtec wasn't pulling as hard as it usually does. I kept hitting vtec from a 1st gear pull then a second gear pull. It wasn't hesitating but the vtec was acting weird. I dont know if it was just my imagination or what.

What could cause vtec to lose power?? maybe the ecu? or the fuel filter being old and maybe clogged, or maybe the brand 93 octain i put in the other day (race track, in Newport news)

any ideas post up.

fuel doesnt really affect it. check the oil. if oil is low vtec wont engauge or will but just shittily. also check the plug and grounds on/around the solenoid.

Could be oil level, could be that the ECU is retarding timimg because of slight knock, could be the gas.. Might be something simple like a dirty fuel filter or clogged air filter too.. It might not have anything to do with vtec, it could be something that affects your top end power, which is where the gas, filters, knock, etc., would come into play.

If you have a SOHC VTEC motor you don't need 93 octane. But w/ my car has a b16 and says to use premium unleaded only.

So if your running a DOHC VTEC motor, yea, you have to run premium.

I go to race track to fill up a lot and I have never had a problem. 93 octane.
