Default Turbo guys

I just wanted to know when you start building boost and also if you are in boost when you are driving on the interstate?
I am at a school at Dam Neck and when I was driving there I was going into boost at about 70-75 MPH. I dont want to build boost just cruising so im planning on swapping my gears out and goin with 3.08s(i have 3.73 now) hopefully I will get better gas mileage because it took $20 to get there and back and I will be there 3 wks

boost works on exhaust gas. to put it simple, the more throttle you give over a period of time, the more boost will develop.

altering your gearing won't effect your boost. easiest way to save gas mileage is to feather the throttle (ie, be very easy on it). keep an eye on your boost gauge and try and keep it very low, or in vaccuum.

Im still trying to work all the damn bugs out of the setup and I realized I never really drove it on the interstate. I drove a VW 1.8T and it stayed out of boost on the interstate so I figured lowering my rear gear will keep my Rpm lower and the turbo out of boost. With the setup now im turning 2900-3000 Rpm @ 75 mph, the old setup I was at or under 2000 @ 75. Also the 3.73s seem to make no use of the turbo or its the POS clutch spinning I should have bought a RAM instead of a ZOOM.

You definately shouldn't ever really see boost cruising. I 'cruise' at 10% throttle or so around 60mph. That usually puts my vac at 10-15(idles at 20). I also have a pretty tight spring on my tb, so it takes effort with the foot to get enough throttle to go into boost. It probably also helps that I cruise in 6th gear around 1800-2000 rpm's, my turbo see's full spool just a hair under 4k.

Its sad thats what everyone told me.....but true

I was told that is the way it should be... everyone keeps telling me that the gears are for an N/A mustang and I should change them. Im not in boost long enough to take full advantage of the power before I have to shift. I just wondered how everyone elses TC car ran

Sounds like boost creep, you'll need to check in to that. You'll probably get more help on turbomustangs.com, lots of turbo'd fox's there. As for your gears, a quicker spooling turbo would probably be more beneficial.

On the highway in my Integra ill cruise at 75 but the rpms will be at about 3,500-3,600. Thats about full boost for my turbo, but since I dont have the gas slammed I never get into boost unless I apply a considerate bit of throttle.

Ouch thats high I thought imports trans. were geared to cruise at low rpm, guess I was wrong. Actually I went the speed limit today(which is a difficult task, especially(sp) here) and was very impressed by the difference. I was @ 2000 rpm, smoother ride, no boost which made the ride more comfortable because I didnt have to hear the wastegate.

When you are in 5th(assuming your in a stick) if you roll on the gas does your clutch let go? My clutch is a piece of crap and I didnt know if anyone experienced this before, its really depressing.

P.S. Do you know who has the black turbo integra in Hampton? I see it around my house every once and a while its a pretty nice car, looks kinda like my friends old one.
