Title transfer from another state?
I recently found a deal on a car in PA that might be too good to pass up. i was just wondering if the laws were any different when trying to transfer the title if the title is from another state. i know in PA you have to have a notary to transfer the title up there, but seeing as how im only buying it there, and bringing it here, would that apply?
I bought my current car in PA. Yes, you have to have the title transfer done in the presence of a notary even if you're just going to bring the car down here immediately after.
After reading this thread you guys got me paranoid, because my project car that I have been working on is from New Jersey and I never got the title notarized. So I went to DMV to try and register it and had no problems whatsoever. They may have changed the rule or something

i think you only need notarized for the dmv here is a bill of sale if the vehicle is 5 years or newer and the price you paid on the bill of sale is over $1000 difference of what the car blue books for.
ahh, that would make more sense. i went to the dmv website today, and it didnt say anything about having to get it notarized, and only that if i didnt have a bill of sale, they would charge me tax based on the nada trade in value....(which is cool with me, because the car cost quite a bit more than that)
When I purchased my motorcycle, it came with a title from Arizona. All that had to be done was fill out the information on the back of the title, present a bill of sale, and provide proof of insurance, and I was good to go. Took 20 minutes from entering the building till I was exiting.
