Default Tires

Took my new car in for inspection today, and my right rear tire is bad. When I bought the car, there were 2 Michelin's on the front, and 2 Goodyears on the back. I didn't really like riding with 2 different brands of tires, but whatever. Now that my back right is bad, I'm thinking should I 1- replace the back rear; 2- replace the 2 back tires, or 3- replace all 4 with a different brand / tire, because Michelin's are expensive as fuck and they're $220 for each tire...

All $0.02 will be appreciated! What should I do!?

If you have the $$$ replace all 4. Cars handle more predictably with matching tires. There are plenty of good tires that typically run half the cost of michelins

Fronts are relatively good; at least 80% tread. But how bad is it to run 2 tires new and 2 w/ 80% tread? Would you pick 4 michelins like this or 4 brand new but cheaper tires ($4-500 range)

This is what I'm thinking too...there have to be tires in the $500 range that are good enough, just not the most comfortable ride / most gas mileage savings / all that extra shit.

At the same time, I do have the cash to do it right, and don't want to buy cheap or used tires. I will consider buying the tires online though, so any savings and deals I'm all for.

Size and type of tire (summer, all season) helps to know.

Used tires aren't that bad of an option. I only buy max performance summer tires new since they don't last very long. For snow tires and spare all season sets used is fine if they're in good shape.

Whatever you do, don't just replace the one tire.

Go to the used tire shop at the corner of little creek and Chesapeake BLVD. he's usually got full matching sets with really good tread and he dosent charge that much for them... i walked out with a set of bridgestone potenzas once mounted and balanced for $300... and they still had the stickers on them.

I never buy brand new tires anymore... buying tires that have about %80 tread life left and spending 1/4 of the price in new tires seems perfectly fine to me.
