anybody have much experience with these...i don't and i have an 04 4runner. the light came on, i put pressure in all the tires (including the spare) and light still on. anyone know of a reset anywhere...couldn't find any info on it. thanks for any help. much appreciated

did you put new rims on it? w/o the tps.....or what we did at my shop was unplug the battery for like 20 seconds

 

On my car its reset through the options on the radio or by turning headlights on and off 3 times. But its a toyota so I dont really know.

 

Disconnect Battery Terminal..

 

look in the fuse box for a little button to reset

 

or you could try the ol' pour water over everything electrical trick.

I work at a toyota dealership...
how you reset them is to correct the tire pressures to the manufacturers specs. If that doesnt work, then the sensor is most likely damaged or faulty, in which you would have to bring to the dealership for us to reprogram the new sensor with a scan tool. I know its a pain in the ass, if youve had some tires put on at a shop that doesnt know what theyre dealing with they can very easily damage that sensor. And how it works, it actually sends a radio signal to the tire pressure unit telling the pressure on (on a 4runner) all 5 tires.

I work at a Honda dealership and we are having similar problems with the newer Pilots that are equipped with TPMS....it is possible that the extremes in the temperature at this time are causing the light to come on...just some more insight...

 

This system is pretty much the same on Hondas. The sensor in Honda's detect pressure and temperature. I also work at Honda but I haven't seen issues with ambient temps causing the TPMS warning light to turn on. I know our systems aren't as sensitive as others.
