Symptoms of unbalanced flywheel?
So the folks who installed my flywheel/clutch combo tell me my flywheel is unbalanced (?). Can anyone explain what i might expect as far as symptoms of this? I'm about ready to kick this shop in the nutz -- they are totally not helpful and have a feeling they are clueless.
Didn't have any symptoms until a few days ago when i started makin a bad clatter sound -- it would clatter a bit while drivin at lower RPMs and sometimes while accelerating in too low of a gear, however I now experience rough idles at startup and almost constant chatter, only louder.
I had all this done at my dealership because i had them drop the tranny to confirm that after 30k miles, the stock parts had given out. Since I had the tranny down and had already paid for half the labor I had them install it.
I think i'm gettin smoke up my bunghole from them now since I didn't go with OEM parts, even though the service manager went ahead and recommended I go with aftermarket.

you should have a nice vibration that vibrates more as the RPM's go up.
They probably didn't know it was unbalanced till after it was installed and the car was ran. It is not thier fault, it is the fault of the manufacturer of the flywheel.
Is it possible to have the counterweights come off? If it was unbalanced you would know right away, it wouldn't just happen over time.

Maybe it's loose??? Things don't just unbalance themselves..
Maybe one of your bearings (pilot or throwout) decided to puke it's balls or something..

yeah, i was gonna say that if you inspected your main and thrust bearings, you may find an answer there. that is going kinda deep, though.
did you have the flywheel re-surfaced?
