streched tire's 225 on a 9.5
Yup....I admit I stuck my foot in my mouth when i said offset doesn't matter. You are correct sir. My apoligies. I rather pull and roll the fenders to make the wheel/tire fit the car. I'm perfecally happy with my wheels.
As far as track experience......I have very little. No I won't start out with the race set up. I'm getting a good deal on them, so why pass it up. I'm hoping by next year the car and ofcourse the driver will be up to speed

^ no need to apologize man, just don't want to see anyone running around on something that may not be safe.
Glad to hear you don't plan on starting out on the Hoosier's. If you have to buy them now to take advantage of the deal, make sure you store them correctly if they're going to be sitting for awhile. Store them on their side and wrap them in something like a dark trash bag and keep them out of the sun. Best if you could store them indoors. Anyway, you may already know that, just making sure.

Thanks for all the input fellas. very much appreciated!!
I've seen plenty.
Do rally drivers run slicks? Do drag racers run mud tires? It depends on the application. Your usage of "race team" is too generic. There are tons of different types of racing on all sorts of surfaces. Drift cars run stretched tires to reduce the side wall flex. The stiffer it is, the more feedback your going to feel from the car.
Its a similar principle to running high tire pressure when autocrossing. Its stiffer and more responsive. I can't speak for road racing - never done it.

Problem is, noone does it because its FUCKING STUPID.
Tire streching was around in japan back in the late 90s "hipari" tire. That's about as far as I can remember it. Seeing it on the "new" s14 silvia's on Option mags/tapes. It's been around since way before that. It's just something that's catching up. If you can find it still. One of my first post on dragva ever was about this subject 3-4 yrs ago. It's all in good taste as long as it's done correct. I'm mean jdm V.I.P has been around since the 80s and it's just catching up stateside. On that note usdm V.I.P has been around since the 70s-80s with the whole lowrider scene, and now with 20+ rims. Tire streching does have a purpose, wearing out tires at a higher rate
j/k
1.Eliminates sidewall flex by stretching it to where theres no room for the tire to move.
Air pressure can do the same thing
and like someone stated if you have some tires laying around...go for it! It is a saftey issue but hey, got to do what you got to do.
end history lesson :P

But none require a wrong size tire being placed on a wheel.
We have determined drifting is not racing, it is a complete style sport, and if you are not drifting and you set your car up that way, it has no practical application on the roadway. Also those who do drift do not run such a crazy offset, a 205 on a 10in wheel, what idiot drifter would do that?
Uhh no, it has no practical application, it does not result in being stiffer because the sidewall angle would be incorrect, and get that responsive shit out of here. The tire is not designed to be used in that manner, its responsiveness is designed upon proper tire pressure and load dynamics. Running higher pressure for autocrossing does not exceed maximum tire pressure, yet disreguards the automakers guidelines to sacrifice ride quality and noise for performance. That is why it is benefits an autocrossser to do so.

a picture i took of US Drift Official Mike Schneider(yeah its a stupid pic) but look at his shirt.
