vr6shit, you thinkin about doin that again? lol, i thougt we got rid of that idea a long time ago! So the car doesn't run anymore? we could do the swap man, just need a couple things to make it work. you should look into what the difference is in prices of the motors

Has some good prices on RB motors, and newer vg TT motors.

A RB in an older Z would be sweet, RBs seem to be easy and cheap to get, but I would except alittle pricey on the maintance and install side, but the potential would be worth it.

why don't you just use the stock vg30e? put a "t" on it or just swap a vg30et from a turbo 300zx. that would be the easiest, and they can make 450hp or more with out anywork on the bottom. no need to get some crazy jdm shit. but, if you want a sr20det in it, i have plenty of them for sale :0)

damn that doesn't sound like a bad idea. the only thing is the engine that is in the car isn't the original engine. i don't know how many miles are on it or anything. it probably needs to be rebuilt. the original was destroyed thanks to nissan for not tightening the oil plug . if i find a vg30et it will probably have alot of miles and have to be rebuilt. how much would you sell an sr20det for?

what type of engine managment are you going to use? if you want the stock ecu, and direct fire system, i have a newer clean black top for $2400. this include the engine, transmission, ecu, uncut harness, maf, ignitor chip, cam sensor, injectors, stock cluch, intake manifold etc.. with a good turbo. pretty much everything you need. also has the stock mounts. i think you could use a 240sx crossmember and make things easier....

or if you just want an engine, trans and everything most people sell, i can give you a clean redtop for $1500

There's really no reason to swap out the VG30. Many have asked your same question, but regarding a Z32. Go to twinturbo.net and do a "search" for more info. Just do a "search"; don't start a new thread about it or you will get flamed.

An 87 300ZX has plenty of potential and is lighter than their bigger brothers. Engines are pretty much the same, although I believe in 87 they were still inline and not V's.

There are plenty of working VG30 motors out there; you just haven't looked yet. I would build one of those before swapping in something different. Just replace all the old hoses, lines and bushings.
