Why would I be jealous of someone driving a $35,000 car that his parents bought? Not everyone on this site is 18 and working at Blockbuster.

 

i realize that performance isnt the only thing when considering a sports car, but i was wondering how a 01-04 c5 z06 would compare against the viper performance wise for at least 10k less and added reliability and gas mileage?

 

 

Gen 1 Vipers are low 13 second cars... Gen II Vipers are low 12 second cars, high 11's w/ some bolt-ons. I've found that my car was dead even with a stock Gen II Viper on multiple occasions when I had my headers and was at 380ish rwhp. Did quite a few highway pulls with the guy who had the blue/saddle RT/10 with the long pony tail. I haven't seen him in years but he used to come out quite a bit back in the day.

Haven't really played with anything since putting my cam in and pushing 430 rwhp.

 

I am in no way jealous of this kid. Do I wish I could have afforded a nicer car when I was that age? Yup. If I could go back and give myself money, would I? No way. The fact is this kid asks for opinions on the internet, and suddenly when people call him an idiot for getting a Viper as a DD especially at his age, he gets his panties in a bunch.

I could keep going. This kid comes here touting off pompously that everyone gives him ‘props’ for his car because heaven forbid he develop a personality, but alas money can’t buy that. I’m not jealous he has money, I’m not jealous his father bought him a viper, (although I wouldn’t buy one, they’re still neat cars), however he comes off as arrogant and makes little attempt at being humble towards his situation. He may be given more money, but I’ll always be richer than him.

 

I'm glad my parents didn't spoil me to death even though they definitely could have...because then I'd end up being an arrogant little bitch. Thanks Mom and Dad

Yes... bus lengths... Gen1 Viper has lots of low end torque but that's about it. I raced a Gen I RT/10 in my mom's bone stock '99 C5 vert and was door/door with him. Mom's car is rated at 345 crank HP and has a 6 speed. Bone stock C5s are 13.1 cars... which is what the Gen I vipers are.

 

ok thanks for clearing that up. i had previously thought that gen 1 vipers ran mid 12's. still a nice car though, but def. not good for bang for the buck as the op originally said.

 

i didnt have any problem with the kid getting the car, i was initially happy for him. the more i read this thread i realize he is a douche and will likely take someone out with this car.
