Default So uh...how in the hell do you launch a turbo FWD car

Nothing I did last night seemed to work. It would either bog its ass off or wheelhop like a son of a bitch. My best 60' was like a 2.3xx. I launched it the same way I did the formula but that didnt work, maybe because I'm used to the instant torque of a NA car or soemthing.

Someone give me some tips. It'll launch fine on the street, but once I get to the track it bogs its ass of in first and second gear, and then runs like a turd the rest of the time.

If you raise your launch RPM incrementally until you get past the bogging you might find a sweet spot between the bog and the wheelhop.

Wheelhop sucks

Are you slipping your clutch at all? Or just popping it? When I used to race my GTI (190 ft lbs. at the front wheels) I would launch it at about 3500 RPM and would slip the clutch out and at about the lights I'd be completely off the clutch. The wheels spin some, but it it wasn't out of control.

As far as the wheel hop: I know you know wheel hop breaks shit. Does anyone make mount inserts that may help with that? They help tremendously on the GTI.

Bah, fuck you two both. SRT-4's and GTI's are both torque beasts, try launching a FWD turbo Honda. 180lb ft, and that doesn't come until really late in the RPMs. Go look up my thread about the "respect for N/A cars". There were a couple of different people that did various small write-ups on how to launch the car.

....Or you could do like my R32: tach up to 6k rpm and dump the clutch.

No thanks. And I'm thinking my horrible launching was causing the bog, which was causing my knock sensor to go haywire and retard the timing, which would be why it felt like it was bogging its ass of through most of first and second gears. I just want the car to run like its supposed to
