If I get a good raise and my wife gets a decent job... I'm REALLY going to consider buying one. I'll have to go to PA though because the general markup here in NY is about $5k.
I want to test-drive one before I make up my mind too. I couldn't buy a car that I have NO idea if I'll like once I end up with it. I'll have to wait a while.
Mazda DOES have alot riding on the RX8, especially then team that pushed to have it made/released again (the rotary). If it does well, then there is talk of a 4th Gen RX7 or a Turbo RX8 coupe 2-seater. If it doesn't do well, say bye-bye to the rotary forever in the future.

Yep, RX's were never meant for straight line performance. They are all about handling though.

actually 250hp in a 2800 lb car shouldnt be laggin too far behind most mustangs. and seriously the unknowledgable statement about "buying a 33K ford", please man, so what engineers do you know at ford that work with the rotary? Please just spare us the pain of having to deal with your ignorance, thanks.

people don't understand that ford doesn't own mazda. They just own a large ammount of their stock. Some of their vehicles share platforms/engines, but the RX-7 (and -8), miata, protege are all straight from Japan.

Am I the only one that thinks this car looks completely hideous? Maybe I just need to see it in person.

I agree. I never liked it. From the concept to the final released car. I just think it's butt ass ugly. Honestly, like Aztec ugly.
