Problem with subs...
Have had 2 12" memphis shallow mount subs for 2 years. reciently they do not hit near as crisp or as strong, and it gives off a horrible feedback sound. Is this a problem with my subs or wires?

yea it does sound like they are blown or there could be something wrong with the out put from the radio, or something wrong with the amp, if you do some trouble shooting its easy to find out what is wrong, take a multimeter to the subs and check the ohm reading on all of the coils it should be close to w/e the manufacturer says they should be a little lower or higher is fine, if thats not the prob u can check the box for air leaks, then i would look into the amp and see if that is it, you can just switch it out for a known working amp, i would also check all of the wiring like the grounds, then check the radio again checking grounds and maybe swaping for a known working radio, thats really all you can do and its easy

On a real note, your subs sound like shit now, or it sounds like shit coming through your speakers, or both?

Are you using a pioneer deck? If so, sounds like you blew the pico fuse inside the deck which causes the rca's to lose their ground. Happend to mine but its an easy fix.

It's also possible that the solder joints connecting the RCA jacks to the circuit board have fatigued, causing a signal ground problem. That's very common, especially after years of having the cable connectors and weight of the cable bouncing around on the jacks every day.
Another common source of failure is a broken RCA cable. They're usually crap quality no matter how much they cost.
