Yeah what I heard was the older Impala's had LT1's...? I've always assumed this, but I guess it could be wrong. I know the 94'ish years of the Impala's basically had a LT1, but had iron heads and what not, so wasn't like the Camaro's 276hp.

 

Cop cars have heavy duty suspensions, heavy duty brakes, heavy duty cooling system, more basic interior (lacking carpet for example), lights, storage compartments in the trunk for forensics equipment/spare gear, push bars, basic steel wheels, disabled rear door controls (windows/handles). That's a basic list, but I'm sure you can use your imagination to see a hundred other basic things.

 

When I lived in western NC, the state trooper had an sti. But I think it was stock though.
