Default ? For Painters / Body repair specialists

So I have a couple interesting dents. 2 are signifigant enough that they annoy the $#!+ out of me daily... my passenger side A-Pillar has a dent literally the size of a golf ball in diameter, and pinky knuckle deep from a drinking glass some ignorant kid through at my car, and the other is on the driver side door but here's the kicker to it, The dent is about 3 inches long and an 1/8th - 1/4 in deep but it's right on a seem line running the length of the car from head light to taillight (06 Scion XB). I took the door panel off and was going to pop it out, but there is a structural frame brace that runs directly over the dent so I can't get to it. There's 5 - 6 minor dings and dents that I can live with, but for two dents like this I have a few questions... One... Is it possible to get the A Pillar dent fixed without having to get the whole car sprayed? Two, if I were to take the car in to have the body work done for just these two dents how much more of a price jump (just a ball park estimate) would I be looking at to have 4-5 little itty bitty dents (shopping cart dings & heavy rocks) taken out. And, lastly what kind of price range should I be looking for in this area to have two difficult dents like this fixed, or all the dents and dings fixed... not looking for an exact number just a general figure so I don't get bent over and raped from behind. Any body shop recommendations in the Norview area of Norfolk would be appreciated too!

The little dings could possibly be removed via paintless dent repair. I recommend the Dent Dr. on the corner of Rt. 17 and Victory Blvd (across from Wal-Mart) in Yorktown. Call 757-438-5564 and ask to speak with Jim Sumner Jr.

As for the dent in the 'A' pillar, it would be possible to repair that and not be obligated to repaint a large portion of the car. If it was me, I'd weld on special tacks that a slide hammer attaches to, pull the dent, fill with body filler, refinish and blend into the roof.

Without seeing the dent in the door, it's difficult to pass judgment, but I'd be willing to bet it could be repaired via a similar procedure as the 'A' pillar. Worst case scenario, a door skin would be required and the applicable R&R costs would follow suit.

If I had to estimate an approximate cost for these repairs, I'd say you're looking at $500-$1,000 simply for the amount of blending that's going to be needed into the roof, fender and rear door for both dents.

As for body shops on the southside, I've heard good things about both Phillips Mercedes and Stock or Modified.
