Pivot points = non-functional.
So
Spoon = non-functional
Hotchkis = finctional.
Here's how I look at it: If it isn't a bitch to put on, it isn't stiffening anything.

It's not so much the bar itself as the endplates. Notice how flimsy the Megan plates are, they will flex all over the place. The Hotchkis bar and whatever that is above it (Spoon?) are much better made plates. Also note the "one size fits all" adjustment hardware on the Megan. Make the beam a slightly different length, and you can use the same hardware for many/most applications. Smart, but shoddy. I'm not especially impressed with many of the Neuspeed bars either, they're not the most robust. A much better effort, yes, but still lacking. Look up some of the Cusco stuff, a lot of their parts are very well designed.
Actually, pivot points are fully functional if all you're concerned with is tension and compression. No strut bar is going to keep the strut towers from rotating about a plane if they want to, you're just trying to keep the towers at a fixed distance.. The plates will bend if there is no pivot and the loads are that high. Look how long the plates are on the Spoon piece, they're going to bend, whether they have a pivot or not.. I have no problem with pivots, but I hate the cheap ass threaded adjustor and jam nut combo that lots of companies use.
