2004 NSX or 2004 Dodge Viper Coupe? -> The Viper you suggest didn't exist so I'll take the NSX
2004 NSX or 2004 Lotus Elise/Exige? -> Are you serious? Definitely the NSX. The Lotus doesn't even have carpet.
2004 NSX or E36 M3 Coupe. E46 M3 Coupe? -> NSX. Completely different cars.
2004 NSX or Porsche 911 Carrera? -> NSX. A 911 w/o turbos isn't really a 911 (996 minus the GT3)
NSX vs R34 Skyline GTR nur-spec -> already covered this pile.
NSX vs Rx7 -> One word: Reliability. Honda designed the NSX to be the exotic sports car someone could drive daily. NSX over and over again.
NSX vs Evolution 7,8,9/STi -> Rally bread for the street? Sure they're fast, but they are plastic heaps. NSX ftw.
The NSX has aged gracefuly, but it has hit the end of the road. I'm sorry to see it go, but do agree that it's very long in the tooth.
However, I can't believe you're downplaying the car that made Enzo Ferrari himself roll over in his grave.

and thus here is my retort.
1) If money was no object?.... money IS an object. Hence why i used these cars as a comparison. If money wasn't an object...well we'd all have Enzo's, and Buggati's. It was the sole reason for the fact that i said it was over-priced and as a result over-rated. PRICE vs PERFORMANCE.
2) Geez, way to dodge my question completely. No pun intended.
well, then the 2004 Viper srt10 non hardtop coupe?3) Wow, "it doesn't have a carpet." That sounds like an excuse. A pitiful at that... Especially coming from someone who got rid of their better performing/more luxurious GTi R32 for a miata :P. If i could get a brand new NSX for 30k less, and have it perform better in every regard, and not have a carpet. I would...and i think so would the rest of the world.
4)Again...you'd take a HONDA over a PORSCHE!?!?! Especially when the porsche is more rare, more exotic, more luxurious, more refined, performs just as well, said to be one of the greatest drivers chassis ever built, and lastly...costs almost exactly the same.
5) I think you're the first person ive heard that would take a NSX over an r35 gtr skyline. Seriously. But...i'll give that to you, even though i know you're lying to yourself.
6) "Honda designed the NSX to be the exotic sports car someone could drive daily" Well if its reliablity you're worried about, for the price of 1 NSX you can buy 2 Rx7's. Also, Honda might have designed the NSX to be driven daily, but they sure didn't price it like it can be a daily driver. Its a sports car, all sports car's are not ment to be daily driven. If you can find someone that only has an NSX in their garage, and no other mode of transportation, and is driven atleast 15k a year....let me know.
7) Again...we are talking about price vs performance. Evo/Sti's have plastic interiors because they are priced cheap to do so. Atleasts they arnt trying to hide their "plasticness" behind a 86k price tag.
edit for the e46 m3: not in the same class? why?....just because it has a back seat? Everything else about the two cars can be DIRECTLY compared. RWD, 6cylinders, 2 doors. I guess they aren't in the same class because the NSX is in a class of its own right?...the overpriced class.
Man, look at what you made me do. You made me completely destroy a car that I love.

Furthermore, R32s are not GTIs. They are Golfs

I didn't make you do anything. You were just upset that the NSX is holding it's value and didn't have to change much to still be a highly sought after and vaunted car after 15 years of nearly no change.

Mitch has TWO NSXs. His '91 has over 150K miles if I remember correctly.

But it isn't his daily driver.
His '94 is his daily driver. He vows to hit 500K with it. And he'll do it.

He's doing close to 40K miles a year with it If I remember correctly.
There are plenty of NSXs with well over 200K miles and more than a few with over 300K miles. I think one is over 500K, but I can't find it right now. Here are the odo shots I found in a pinch:

I'll tell you many reasons why I can say that I love the NSX, and have almost everything against it. Firstly, i have a disease...and its called being overly critical about everything. Especially about things that I say that I like. Secondly, Im a firm believer in the idea that if it can stand my scrutiny, then its worth liking. Maybe...even loving. And Thirdly, no matter how much opinions matter to a car enthusiast, the hardcore facts must not be overlooked. Without using the "black and white" of a car as a way to judge/rate it and and everything it represents..then we get nowhere. Much like a political debate...it becomes deadlock.

We can use black and white on many of the cars you posted and the NSX would win some categories and the other various cars would win others, but I think they'd all lose to the NSX when it comes to civility and drivability.
There are many things to love all the cars you posted. I'm actually a major Corvette admirer, but I can't see myself taking a used C5 'vette over a NSX. The draw to the NSX is that strong.
You're not avoiding Dave's post with all those high mileage NSXs are you?
Look at Mitch. He's wearing the most pimp pants ever. And he owns two high mileage NSXs? What a rarity...

Why would you get a Porsche over an NSX again?
