Since my bro has like the SLOWEST turbo i've ever seen what can be done besides a manual conversion and a boost controller to help my brother get more out of his car. I mean this cars slow

I assume he added the turbo to a 2nd gen RS? Or do 1st gen RSs have turbo option? I'm no master of DSMology.

Automatic turbo is the shit, assuming the tranny can maintain itself. The manual conversion would make him slower....unless of course he is an idiot and can't do a boost launch correctly.

How much boost, what else is done to his set-up?

OK. I'm from the Avenger world....we share the same engine /tranny as the 2nd gen eclipse/talon GS/RS.
The RS/GS have the 420a, factory NON turbo cars.

Which turbo kit does he have ....Hahn or Star??
How much boost is he running right now??
Is the bottom end built with forged internals?? If not....no more than 9-10 psi intercooled with proper fuel and tuning or his engine is gone.

He can add a shift kit to the tranny, and there is a mod that changes the final drive gears. the gears needed for the change are from a stratus.
Also...he NEEDS to install a tranny oil cooler.
Heat is the MAIN killer of the A604(his tranny "name" if u will)

Also, have him check out 2gnt.com. they have been boosting the 2nd gen RS/GS for years, both manual and auto. They can go even more in depth than i did here to help him out. suggest using the search function over there first. LOTS have been posted on this type stuff already.

he said eclipse RS.. which is the 420a engine.. same engine in the neons (not srt4) and avengers.. even the stage1 turbo they're slow. you need to get up to stage3-4 on their aftermarket kits and then you'll be putting down power. rS/GS eclipses have like what.. 140? 160hp stock? GST/GSX have 210/215ish stock.

 

Yea is an RS eclipse. It's not my car so i don't ever touch it. What's sad is i have a 1989 Jetta that started with like 105 hp. I added header, cat-back, intake, and cams and i'm startin to cathc up at the end of our runs. After my 2.0 1.8 conversion i should be almost keeping up if not staying with.

I'm not working on it anymore because he never listens to my advice. I already told him build the block, get an oil cooler, bigger injectors, better fuel pump, maybe a piggy back as well as a stand alone fuel system and his car wouldn't be too bad. But he's like thtas too much work. I'll fuckin help with the installs but he's a frickin moron when it comes to cars. Avenger gears huh? Hit me up with mo0re info if u can dude.

Forgot to add yes it's the star turbo kit but i can get him upgrade parts for mad cheap since my friend has a buisness license.
