New Mitsu Ralliart-baby evo X
understandably....damn thing goes way back.. and they are getting insane numbers out of them...
although the 4B11Ts are breaking 400hp now... on the stock turbos i think... and the damn thing just came out. (Of course that is AMS that is doing it though...but the rest of the world is in the 300+ to the wheels)

Actually, im not sure if the new Ralliart will appeal to the larger community as well as the standard WRX. Although they cost relatively the same, and the Ralliart gets a spiffy tranny, im not 100% sure where they are aiming its marketing strategy.
Marketing it as a poor mans evo is a mistake. Basically, people who want to buy evo's won't be looking to get anything less. Its the name, heritage and pedigree that they are buying when one buys an evo. Much like a Type-R. People who want to buy a Type-R, won't settle for a GSR.
Im not saying that it won't do well. Im sure there are tons of kiddies out there that will have a easier time convincing their parents of buying a Ralliart for 27k than an Evo for 35k. But still, if i was looking to buy an AWD/Turbo, sporty car for a budget. I'd get a regular WRX.

Don't worry about it, you have every right to ask
From what I've read the Evo X has been dumbed down for the general public. I mean yes, it's pretty much as fast, and has some cool electronic stuff to make it easier to drive fast, but it's not as much of a drivers car. From the tests i've read, the Evo X was easier to drive around the track fast, but a good driver is able to get more out of an Evo IX. I'm also a fan of the 4G63, it's a classic engine. In my opinion, it deserves to be right up there in history with the old big block V8s and stuff from the 60s. I also prefer the looks of the older Evos to the new one. I mean, the new one looks pretty good, but I like the older one's better. If I were to get one it would be a second car, a toy car to play around with, and I'd rather have the "classic" Evo. Besides, people will be wanting to upgrade to the Evo X, so the older ones will be cheaper to buy.

A typical driver on a daily basis would never be able to tell the difference in performance between the 9 and 10 stock for stock. The 10 is only a few tenths slower than the 9 (and a majority of that time is because of the taxing of the extra weight on the 10)
Anyways....................Dont take offence to my statements above, Just an obervation
My question is though for the evo boys: That DSG type tranny?? Isnt that one of the limitations of the car?? That much electro gizmo stuff is going to be headache for tuners, especially if these things start grenading. Shoot, I cant wait until these things start having problems when the warranty is up. I would not like to be slapped with the bill for one of those.............
I dont know, a gsr is only a few bucks away from an evo and you could probably pick up one in a few months for the price that the evo 9 MRs are going for right now...........I dont think I will ever buy a car new (not in the mood to loose 2-3 k just by driving the darned thing off the lot).
Its a toss up. The 9 looks fabulous but the 10 is more grown up in all aspects?? European almost..........
And just to those who think I am against the evo community, just take a look at my username. If you are a genuine evo fanatic, you would know what is it, where its produced, etc
My question to you is, how often do you drive a car 10/10ths on the way to work, school, grocery store, etc??? After a while, all that ruckus wears you out (dont ask me how I know). There is no way in hell I am merging onto the highway in a full drift, flat footed, to eek out just that last corner exit mph. Thats just foolish.
