I haven't driven a Skyline. I have driven (read: built and owned) an RB20-powered 240SX. I have driven (rented) a G35. The cars had fairly similar power-to-weight (~250HP/2700 lbs versus 280HP/3500), with the advantage going to the 240. I loved my car, especially the way it sounded, but the G35? Awesome. The power delivery was smoother (i.e. better) and it didn't let up until redline.

So, you've driven a Skyline? Care to tell us about it?

I actually have, a friend of mine had one when i used to live in Jamaica, it was a nicely modded R33 GT-S, basic mods, intake, bigger IC, exhaust, and increased boost...

supposedly it made 400hp, but i dont know... anyway, V6 as silky smooth as they are, i found the straight 6 to be one of the smoothest most linear engines ive ever driven... the think had insane torque but felt liek the power climbed all the way to redline. the car itself felt huge just sitting in it, but once you get moving it feels nimble, you kinda forget the size of it really quickly, at the time the only other real quick/fast cars id driven was a sick EVO II that was boosted to like 22psi, the EVO was quicker but the skyline was like a power surge, the evo would just go instantly, the skyline would move, dont get me wrong but the power was liek a surge, it would quickly build up to a wave and then just sail your ass.. ha ha , man, i miss them cars... this was a long time ago... yeah i know not much of a review,

7 speed makes the 1st 6 gears closer to aid fuel economy and acceleration, while maintaining a normal 7th for hwy cruising and hwy mileage....

Gears are torque multipliers remember; the more multipliers the wider the range of gearing you can use to achieve the desired acceleration you want and maintain fuel economy

youd prolly only use the 1st 6, that 7th one is prolly a crazy HWY overdrive.
So it aint too bad, and it will have enought torque to ensure changing gears is almost always optional.
