It's not if a cop wants to be an asshole, its the law. They just enforce the laws the people you vote for put into effect.

I switch lanes and turn sometimes without using my signal. Never in heavy traffic though.

It may be the law, but it is up to the officer whether or not they want to be harsh on you. Honestly, I'm really glad I took that class. There's a lot of stuff average drivers don't know.

Failure to give proper signal - Civil penalty $1,050.00 + the court cost & fines
Does this apply to police cruisers? The most frequent offenders of this code imo.
