Need help deciding what to do
I had a reg cab 96 s-10 and was able to put 2 JL 12'' w7's in custom sealed boxes in there. Your going to lose some leg room and you will lose some of boom capability of the speakers due to no have ported boxes but they sounded good in my car. It actually got noticable louder with the windows down. Your other option with a standard cab is to do a blow through from the which requires cutting out the back of the cab and front of the bed and building/welding a box to inclose it all. You lose bed space but if your goint to c-notch and lay the truck out you wont have any bed to speak of in the first place.
The panel behind the seats can be removed, and a box made against the sheet metal. I've made more than a few shallow boxes for S-10s, and they come out great. You're a bit limited in depth though, yes. An easy way to do it is to make MDF top, bottom, sides, (and braces in the middle) then fiberglass the back sheet metal to make the most of the minimal air volume you can actually use. Once the fiberglass is cured, attach the front like any other sub box (glue and screw).. A little polyfil and you're set... With 2 10s you should have room in the middle put the amp on the front of the box if you like too.
