Like I said if you like to wrench the 240 will be much more fun since you can actually mod it a lot more than the GTI since the aftermarket isn't as expensive. Also RWD>FWD. You can keep the dub and mod it a little and have a nice daily or mod the crap out of the 240 and have fun with it. Your choice, I'd keep the 240

dubs break too damn much......
i have a friend whos been through something like 3 clutches and 4 transmissions on different cars and his new car has run right for 10mins since he bought it. get a dub only if you truly want one and be prepared to drop monies into it alot. theres a mottofor vw's, "if the check engine light isnt on, thats when i am worried."
i also have owned 2 vw's and not one has ever run. i finally gave up and threw one away and am paying someone to fix my 84 Rabbit.

Re: Keep the 240, or rock the dub
i honestly can believe you are asking to keep the 240 or get a vw. keep the 240...get a body kit for it...nice wheels....paint it.....get a motor swap....and drift that 240! with a vw u cant have as much fun really.....i mean u cant drift it all u can do is make it look bad ass....thats it....i mean yeah it might be alittle fast but think of a 240 with an ls1 swap....see? i know u r thinking about that and the potential u have with a 240 vs a vw. there is endless things to do with a 240.
keep the nissan. mine is haggard as well but it runs great and i can drive the piss out of it without worries. something breaks its relativley cheap to fix vs a vw. specially a gti golf. i will admit the golf is nice...they look nice. but nothing i want with what i want to do....if u spent some money on that 240 and got her looking nice or even bought yourself a 240 in better shape u could look nice and do pretty much anything as far as racing goes if ur into that sort of thing.
just my opinion though.....if u r gonna get rid of the 240 let me know i might want it

How much work does it really need. I mean if its alot of major stuff buy another 240 or a more reliable car. If its stuff that wont' take much for it to get running fix it so you don't have to worry about breaking down on the road. Then when you got money do the up grades, then the body mods, then in the end paint, and audio. If its not gonna be a race car.

its not major, so far ive replaced : all belts, 10w30 oil, new tranny oil, new front ball joints, all new brakes all around( pads, calipers, rotors) new passenger seat, and i still have to get new front tires, new hood,( my tarded dad backed into it and creased it) and straighten it out
