Insurance Question?

In about a month and a half I'll be getting my license back, thank God. But I'm afraid that my insurance will be insane.

I just turned 18 and plan to attend ECPI within the next few months. Whatever I drive will be paid in full and most likely be a POS with high milage.

I got a wrecklace driving:racing on my record at the end of last year. I had a suspended for 6 months.

I know with that, and being a young male I will have way too high insurance. But I was wondering if I took any kind of driver correctional/driver education class and let my insurance company know, would that help lower my insurance.

Also, if anyone knows of any real cheap companies please let me know.

Thanks,
Jake

btw-please don't turn this into a "you get what you deserve faggot", "just take the punishment" thread. I took my 6 months and almost $400 in fines without a complaint. And I have been biking my way around by myself to get to school and work ever since.

Thanks, I don't plan on getting in anymore trouble. I figured I'd be ok in court since the cop wrote multiple tickets acusing of racing and only one of the people(not me) was actually going. Guess not though.

GEICO doesnt give a discount for taking a driver training course unless you are 50 or older, Im sure most other companies in VA do the same. Taking the class may help if you have bad points on your license.

Did I ask for school advice? NO. I already have the course set up that I want to take. I know lots of people that went to ECPI and they had no complaints.

You are more than likely going to have to get a SR-22, meaning you are a liability to insure and it causes higher rates. I'm fairly confident you'll have to keep it for 3 years. Taking a driver's ed course on your own accord is favorable with the insurance companies and generally will reduce the rates slightly. With your age/driving record, don't look for much or anything at all from it.

I don't feel like going back and reading, but will you be wanting full coverage or just liability? If its just a beater like you state, don't spend the money for full coverage. You can pay the state of Virginia $500 to keep no insurance on your ride. I highly oppose that method.

The easiest thing would be to go to an insurance agent and get them to find the cheapest route for you. Yes, it will cost you a small fee for them to do the work, but just sign up with them initially and when your renewal time comes around, do it on your own and save the money. If you don't get any tickets and be good, the renemal price is usually a little cheaper each time.

Yea I'm just looking for liability. My mom told me I'd probably be looking at a SR-22, which I'm not looking forwards to.

With the $500 to the state thats per year right? If so, how does that work? Can I just pay them that and i'd be good for a year?

I'm sorry. I just reread your jackassish post and noticed that. When I think of "real college" TCC is the LAST thing on my mind. Maybe you should go back??
