Good luck in finding any interior that is in good condition at a junk yard. With most being over 30 years old...like I said, good luck. You can get new interior from: vwupholstery.com, jbugs.com or even jcwhitney for good prices.

Get your disc brake coversion from a ghia. I'm sure you can find this in a junk yard...if not go to Pepboys or Autozone. Worked great for me.

As far as the exhaust goes...I would dump the stock heater/exhaust system as they suck anyways and go with a set of "J" pipes, 2-1 dual headers and if you want a heater, then run an electric header system.

With the motor...if you do not intend to keep it stock, just remember that heat is the #1 killer of air cooled engines. The bigger the motor, the more heat! For a good build, I would recommed a 1641cc with Mahle 87mm slip-ins or 1776 with Mahle 91mm...and only Mahle, 110 engle cam, some baby 34mm dual carbs, 009 dizzy and an upgrade oil pump. This should not cost anymore than what it would cost to do a stock build. 041 (if they make them anymore) or 044 heads would be nice, but not necessary.

Good luck with your project. There are times that I miss my 71

I want to thank everyone for their advice, especially Dee. I went to the meeting and now we are having a tech session at my house on Sunday to try to get everything finished. If anyone else wants to come help I could always use it. By the way, I am making it a cookout so there will be plenty of food and beer.......PM me if you want to come help.
