honda s2000 cr
I don't like the wheels and with the top off I hate the wing.
However, with the top on I kinda like it. (I'm not a no-wing nazi)
I am still confused about the purpose of the car. They lost the soft top (good move for a "Club Racer") but then added weight back with a chassis brace in that spot. Last I checked, S2000s don't need more than maybe a lightweight X brace. They're stiff as hell, have been from day one. So their weight savings totals about 90 pounds. Take the spare tire and heavy dual exhaust off a run-of-the-mill S2000 and you're looking at about the same loss. They're saying this one will be faster around the race track than a stock one....well, throw those tires on a stock one and I'm sure the gap will be next to nothing. Especially if you lose the weight I just talked about.
I'm not saying this one won't be a good S2000, it's just a letdown. I was hoping for a "type-R" or even more extreme. Honda doesn't need the moey from S2000 sales. S2000s are attention getters for Honda. A "Pride-ride" if you will. They could have afforded to make a hard edge S2000.
What the S2000 CR SHOULD have been:
Hardtop
X brace (only additional brace)
Forged wheels (Honda F1 uses Rays wheels now, why not sub-contract them?)
Those tires
lightweight Recaro seats
less sound deadening
Factory A/C delete option
AP1 type radio with delete option
Single exhaust
More aluminum (maybe even some carbon fibre)
Cryoed diff
(type-R) engine enhancements
5 point harness'
~2400lbs
