here I come
So....Im in the airforce, and I just received my assignment yesterday Im headed down to langley afb. From my understanding its in the city of hampton I think....Im from las vegas I started racing at the age of 15 and actually started getting into building motors up at 19.Ive been stationed here in anchorage,ak for the past 3 years and their is actually some pretty stiff competition out here.I am more of a honda guy myself.I think its safe to say I have the quickest s0hc honda here in alaska right now.Anyway I should be getting to va. sometime in the middle to end of february. So what should I expect to see so far as weather,people..what areas of town not to live in..should I turn the sensitivity up on my alarm?Should I watch out for ricers, sleepers? any info would be great.I also have my own website where I sell parts and I perform services here in my garage. So if anyone needs anything let me know.If I make any money from this then ill shoot the owner of this site some cash. thanks.
Whatever anyone says around here, the scene is what you make it. You'll have your typical mix of ricers and the ones that truly into tuning and have fast cars.
The weather around February. Expect it to be cold, no other way to say it. You'll have days of 20 degree weather. Maybe colder, but most of the time right around low 40's down into the 30's. There might a small stint here or there where it raises to around 50+. But come spring expect a very mild climate, on into summer where you'll see day 70+ degrees, and a very comfortable night.
I'd like to explain the tidewater area of Hampton as a place where you'll see all four season at their best. There is no season that outdoes the other. Summer is hot and Winter is cold. Plain and simple.
Your competition here, I expect to be the same. You just have to meet the right people. Stick around here on Drag, and you will know of all *important* events to attend. I say that "*" because this website is where all major evenmts get planned. Thank Sung
Hope you enjoy VA, remember my first statement. How fast does your SOHC run? It would be nice to be in at least 12's. And you're more than welcome to hang out with any of us.

Pretty much everything Ambient said. I live in Hampton right near the AFB. My pops works for the ACS Defense contractor on base. As far as setting ur car alarm to more sensitive, i wouldnt say this area is nessesarly(sp) gehtto or anything but theres some areas round here like Riprap and such that i wouldnt leave my car parked at night in, so i would say u prolly dont have to worry bout goin into the store and comin out with u car on jack stands but this sure as hell aint alaska
Alaska isn't negative degree weather everyday, it can actually be quite mild sometimes, but I agree.
Oh yeah, at night, it actually gets dark, not "dusk" like you call night up that far North. However, no northern lights
