Yea but the truth is, gas prices arent the only thing rising. A few years ago I could go with my parents and go grocery shopping and have a $50 bill that would feed the family for close to 2 weeks. Now when the wife and I go shopping for our own family the bill is over $100 and will only last a week. I dont hear people bitching about that.

These added up is about 800 bucks, that is a whole paycheck for my E4 salary. That is quite a bit of money.
Basically, it sucks that prices are going up. But there is really nothing I can do about it. I know that. So I just get less money to spend elsewhere.
My truck gets 17 MPG but my motorcycle gets 40+. Americans are just too in love w/ their big SUVs and gas guzzlers. I've never been to europe but I don't think they have quite as many large autos, but a lot of those micro cars people here would never drive. Aside from the streets being much smaller, their gas is much more expensive, so they adapt.
Anybody want to buy a bike that'll get 70+ MPGs on regular? Just needs a little work, then you can stop at the gas station once a month.

Unless the countries of India and China stop growing the price of gasoline will continue to rise. it has absolutely nothing to do with profits. It has to do with the simple basics of supply and demand. We are the largest consumer, but we are rapidly being replaced by both India and China, their consumption rate will soon outpace us. Thus the cost of gasoline will continue to rise, so get used to it. Profit margins that were posted in the 4th quarter last year have nothing to do with price at the pump. Crude oil is purchased in bulk well ahead of processing, that oil was purchased at nearly $20 cheaper a barrel. processing here went interupted three times last year which shot the price of the final product higher. In business you charge for the cost of the material and labor involved in production. You do not set yourelf up for failure and charge for the cheaper materials when you know they are going cost more tommorrow. Those same companies did not post major gains for the first quarter. Why? Because the price of oil stabilized for nearly 4 months leaving no room for profit taking. The end user the gasoline station makes very little profit from the increaese of prices overnight for the sale of gas. Someone once said well the gas in the ground at the time of increase was cheaper, well yes, but when the prices drop, that gas may have also been more expensive. It all balances out in the end.
The way I see it, I have to get gas for my vehicles no matter what, so why bother bitching about how much it is? No matter how much the price, it has to be in my tank if I wanna go anywhere, so no point bitching about it.
