Its a great idea, and even if it did work, wouldn't make a difference to them. Middle East is going to make money regardless. Don't buy gas for a week, think they care? There are plenty of other countries lining up for it. India, China, Japan. We would do nothing but hurt ourselves by not buying gas and prices would not go down. Look at your oil companies for the high gas prices.

[QUOTE=blah]The Alaskan reserve is only enough to last the country 4 months. QUOTE]
sorry bro, but that is the national reserve, and that is a very conservitive estimate.
also, to add fuel to the fire, the middle east is home to only 27% (give or take, this is off the top of my head from collage geolegy 5 years ago) most of the rest is untaped in more hostile enviroments such as siberia (incredibly rich in fossil fuels, but undeveloped for the most part because it is part of russia) and nothern canada.

Re: GAS PRICES?!?!
I live in pungo, down near munden park. It takes me 30 minutes to get anywhere... I fill up more than once per week, and it blows. Not THE reason I took the turbo kit off the coupe, but it contributed...
I think we (the United States) need to buy oil fields in various oil rich locations around the world. Then create an American oil company to control it. This American Oil company will drill for oil, and sell oil to refineries ONLY in the us. This way, we can set the price. The only reason we are paying this much for gas is because we are not in control of the supply, nor are we willing to put money up front for oil fields.
Like somebody said before, the oil companies do not need the United States, there are plenty of other countries after more oil. I was wondering what would happen if the middle eastern oil companies decided to cut off the oil supply to the US (especially in a time of war with the middle east), and give it to China. What would the United States do in a scenario like this?

Most loved fact about gas prices. Price for one gallon of gas: 2.99$ Price for one gallon of starbucks mocho latte (or whatever flippin' choices they have these days) ~20$ Damn, whiners.
