Not to sound insensitive but $80k to pay over an extended period of time is not goin to bankrupt the family. There are going to be a lot of college students owing that much after four+ years of tuition. Two hard working parents can afford that,I think they are just over-reacting. As long as the child can get her operation done, they should be fine.

It's not easy to get a personal loan for $80K. you'd need about $80K in equity on your home to get a second mortgage for that amount as well as qualify for the loan.
It's about $700 or so per month on a 25 year loan of that amount.

Yeah with no collateral its an unsecure loan, its hard to get an unsecured loan for a grand (for most people) let alone 80k. They are in my prayers.

Also I believe he said he lost his job the other day for staying home to be with his daughter...Alot of times with large fairly expensive operations you have to make a deposit of a large chunk of the total cost before it gets done....

Carl I'm sure ricky and I will be at the next fundraiser...Any Ideal where this one is going to be?

Okay i talked to Gia's father, by the way his name is Jimmy, i don't think i have said his name yet. He gave me an update on how much money has been raised so far. He has a close friend to the family who is a lawyer. This friend is really helping out with finding ways to get grants and such for Gia. So far $53,000 has been donated/collected. The latest grant came from C.L.A.S.S..
This place helps out when medical issues are based off of liver problems such as Gia's. Gia is on a machine full time that is helping her to breathe. For this reason she spends all her time at the hospital. The families spirits are high with all the donations that are coming in.

As far as TTE's next charity event is scheduled for the last sunday in February. The donations from this event will go to aid Gia. In May Jimmy said that a certain foundation will be hosting a charity event to Gia. So hopefully by May the whole money situation for the surgery will be taken care of.

Once again for any monetary donations to Gia can be given directly to any TTE member or sent via paypal to Jimmy. The paypal account is on the SR20forum link that i posted on page 1.

any questions please feel free to PM me. Soon as i get all details for the February Charity Event i will post in the Events forum. Hopefully this charity event is special and important enough to where the moderators could sticky the thread into each forum so that we get maximum participation.

Oh yeah to answer onebadk1tty's question the event will be all across the peninsula. For those of you who i already haven't talked to about the next event that answer should keep you guessing for a while.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY(i know it is still 2 days away but right now it feels good to say it.)

hey guys, yes carl and i did speak via phone conversation today. i was very inspired by what he and the rest of tte have planned. gia is and has been inside a pediactric intensive care unit since november 17, 2003. she was on a machine to help clean her blood but since she has been on new liver medications they have sice taken her off. she is fully intubated and sudated because of it. a few weeks ago she had a hole in her left lung repaired, that caused a collapsed lung. also she has valve like tubes in her lungs so they can use a camera to search thru and scout out the condition of her lungs severall times a week.

i will try my best to keep everyone up to date on her condition and try my best to explain everything the doctors tell me. remember i am no doctor, just a electrican.
