Question forged, cast or billet.

I am looking into doing a 347 stroker motor for my cougar and was wondering what the benefits/downfalls of all three types of components are. So far I'm thinking forged is the way to go but I would like others opinions and view. thanks.

Just go forged I would do a 331 if I had to do it all over again. Call AMP they are in the 5.0 mag's, they usually have some good deals. I got my dart block for 1800.00. So go check them out.

i'm gonna use the stock 5.0 HO block for it. I am kinda on a budget too, so the scat balanced rotating assemblys are looking real good for under a grand. And I also have to pick up a set of aluminum heads so I'm lookin at a long-term build. But I will check that out, and im probably gonna go the forged route with a 347 kit and .40 over pistons.

Because a 347 stroker will put out more power than a rebuilt 351. Its a tad lighter than the 351 fulley dressed and I already have a fuckton of bolt-on stuff for my 5.0.

"Budget" and "Billet" don't go in the same sentence unless it is "I have no budget for billet rods." Just get the Scat rotating assembly and use it if you are staying NA. While not the best materials, they will do what you want. I run Scat forged I beam rods in my car and they are advertised to 700 hp.

Yeah, i found that out after doing some research. I plan on getting alot of stuff off of e-bay because I am finding some quality stuff for less than what I would normally pay full retail. That and My buddy has a hookup at MAS racing in norolk

if you are using a stock block you can probably get away with cast. if you are on that much of a budget you aren't going to have big enough heads to spin it real high or make huge power anyways.

I would go with a 351w because the block is stronger and can be a 408 later. I'm not sure I agree that a 347 makes more power than a rebuild 351 which would be a 358.
