Hmm... might not be a bad idea for your first car, as others have asked, what do you like? Domestic, Asian, Euro? I wouldn't recommend a mitsubishi unless you want to become a shadetree mechanic in a hurry. lol.

 

id pass on a auto, no brainer. look for a integra around the same year, better looking, and would be more fun to play with

 

Drive the Accord. the 94-97's look the best anyways (imo) and they arent slowass cans. But as stated above, don't try and mod it, just save your money for something else. You can fit a lot of things in there when you fold the backseat down.

i.e. a surfboard.

If they are gonna buy it, get that not car payment, save up for a h swap and ride that. i agree with everyone else on not modding it. That would be a waste especially if you arent even sure if youd wanna keep it.
