One fairly easy way is when you're entering a turn, steer hard to the outside then throw the car to the inside and step on the gas. Now modulate throttle/brake to maintain your drift.

I do this in parking lots, I'm no drift master tho.

First, learn to drive properly your car to its limits of suspension and tires. May I suggest auto-x or drivers school. If you try to learn drifting without understanding the basics of weight transfer, suspension geometry, slip angles, cornering ability, etc., you will be wasting your time.

hes right. people that go out and try to drift without the proper knowledge and basic racing skills usually end up in a ditch off the side of the road. there are many ways to get your car into a drift--power over, heel to toe, shift lock, etc. research these techniques and only try them in controlled areas.

o yea..mstr22u, u dont push the brakes while in a drift, that will correct the oversteer and straighten the car out. big mistake by beginner drifters.

Well, he's already asked over at Zilvia, so I might as well lock this before someone gets a bright idea and kills themself.

On that note folks:
  • Don't believe the hype. Drifting shouldn't be the "next big thing" that gets ruined by ricers. Send an angry letter to Super Street or something to tell them what a bunch of tools they are.
  • Don't go out and try to drift if you don't know what you're doing. At the minimum, you'll probably hump a curb and damage your car. At the worst, you'll kill yourself and other people.
  • Before you can learn to drift, you need to be able to control your car. Try your hand at drivers-training schools or autocross events. The experience you gain will help you all around.
  • Don't try to drift with information gleamed solely from the internet. Find someone who knows what they're doing, and ask them to teach you.
  • Don't try to drift on public streets. If you do this, you're an idiot and baby Jebus will cry. Don't make baby Jebus cry.
  • FWD can't drift. FWD can't drift. FWD CAN'T DRIFT!
