The way I see it, a DOHC VTEC motor would be the better choice. Obviously a SOHC is cheaper. Let me put it like this..

b16 swap = $900-1100
d16 swap = $350-450

If your going all motor there is no way you can be making the same power as a b16 for the difference in price. Not only that but I am sure there are more people selling parts for b-series stuff than people with parts for d-series.

Im aware that we arnt just talking about d-series vs DOHC VTEC motors, I am just generalizing. I don't see any way that a single cam can come close to making the same power as a dual cam when putting in the same amount of money.

do you relize how much you have to do to a d-series n/a just to get like 150-160whp... it's not worth it, just do a b-series swap, a few bolt-ons, and your basically where you'd be already if you were to build a d-series
