Cheap S2000 Vortec SC kit on Ebay
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWA%3AIT
I've seen these retail for around $4,200. I understand FI mods like these will hinder the longevity of any engine (especially stock), but I was curious if there were any major problems some of those on the board here may have had. I've been thinking of just buying a DC or Comptech header, and intake, and other chassis/suspension parts, i.e. strut/sway bars, etc.
I'd look into S2ki, but I generally feel a little more comfortable (and at home) browsing through here on VA Driven.
What would be better, or suggested? Straight on speed, or handling? My budget would handle either one, but not both. Seemed like everyone in VA had an S2000.

handling ftw, but mark w had a sc s2k and just the charger with power cooler he put 300 to the wheels NO OTHER MODS... just the sc so you can get a lot of power if you do all the mods you can like header, exhaust,etc.., but you can make a badass all motor s2k that handles great and you wouldn,t have the reliability worries

All motor s2k? I haven't seen many done.
Right, I've called Shad and looked into other options as far as internal, but it's already so high-strung from the factory. Recently I read the S2k head to be the "king of heads" b'c they flow so well. I believe there was an article done with mild porting, but the next issue isn't out yet on the results.
A build isn't something I'd be looking for b'c it's my daily... moreso just things I could do on the weekends when the hobby shop opens. I also think if I were to build it, it might outweigh the cost of the SC kit. Looking to spend no more than $2k, if that.

.Mark W's S2k was an "eye-catcher" and certainly fun, but he didn't have it long enough to uncover any real ill-effects. (Going back to class now).....

As far as handling vs power: You don't need all those bars and crap to make an S2000 an amazing handler. You just need good shocks and springs (Koni Yellows and a good lowering spring will get the job done VERY nicely) and anything after that is just a tiny bit of icing on the cake.
Also, the Vortech kit will be very good to your engine at stock boost. I wouldn't worry about reliability at all. Just keep an eye on all the tensioner related bits and you should be fine.
For under $2K you need to get the aforementioned shocks and springs and put the rest toward a used Vortech kit from a trusted seller. This guy, by the way, doesn't instill much trust. The bid on that kit is now at $6100 and the bidder IDs are kept private. I wonder why?
Just about every claim in that article was bullshit.

Zero feedback, private seller, and $2k is scary. Which is why I brought it to attention and wanted everyone's 2 cents. I appreciate it. The car does handle great out of the box. Fun car.
Zero feedback, new user, FL location, no reserve and only 65 for shipping. I doubt the winner will ever see his money or the supercharger.
YEA on bottom you can see he retracted the 6500 bid, and explanation is: OVER BIDDING? wouldn't you try to get as much money as possible?
