Car theft is getting out of hand..
actually, because it's been localized to this area, the state won't be doing anything. it's up to the fine men and women of hampton roads' police departments to find the stolen cars. although some people would act like all they do with their time is pull people for exhaust...
i dont know if they sell it here in tha states and how useful it may be... but in japan they have a "steering wheel club like device" that is used for your tire+rim. maybe someone knows of a place to purchase it in the states?

Optionally, if someone is using your VIN to cut keys, buy a cylinder from a different make and model car and MAKE it fit. Weld a steel plate into the door to prevent access from a slim jim. Install remote locks and disable the stock lock/unlock button to prevent coat hanger entries.
It'd be nice to see a recovered car that would give clues as to the method of entry to help prevent further thefts...don't want it to be towed or pushed away? I have an idea for that too.

i dont think my car can be broken into with a slim jim, I have no keholes anywhere, my locks are power... and if the alarm is tripped the ignition system doesnt work...but im sure anyone with enough grit could do it...
and btw i have power locks and ive slimjimmed my door plenty of times. anyone can by them from a snap on man. my windows were closed everytime also. sucks only having one key.
They'll get what's coming to 'em....As far as my car, the windows are frameless so it's pretty easy to get inside the car. I think the best bet is gonna be to wire up a plug that you can take off and take inside your house with you. Put that on the starter signal wire for the ECU or something like that. Also, when you get out of your car at night, turn your wheel all the way to one side. Unless they have a key your wheel will stay locked. If they try to tow it from the back wheels at all it'll be a pain in the ass because the wheels are turned. Also, leave it in gear AND set the parking brake. Last...remote start might not be a very good idea. Your emmobilizer is gone if you have remote start.
